FROM THE MI DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION:
"The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) requests public comment on the Health Education Standards Framework.
The current standards were adopted in 2007 and need updating. These new standards include updated terminology, reflect current trends, support best practices, and align with the National Health Education Standards that were adopted in 2024. Major changes include:
- Using grade spans instead of individual grades to offer more flexibility to districts in when skills are taught and mastered.
- Adding guiding principles to help inform the evaluation and selection of comprehensive health education programs by districts.
- Switching from standards to practices focusing on the process and skills students learn.
- Updated health topics to better reflect current trends and terminology."

The Michigan State Board of Education needs to hear from you. Are the messages above things you want your children taught in public schools, in classes required for graduation? We want to keep sex education up to parents, NOT unelected school administrators.
